Fake support scam
A scam where someone impersonates official support for a bank, platform, or tech brand to gain access or payment.
How it appears in scam messages
You call a number from a popup or search result, or are contacted by 'support', and walked into sharing access.
Example only - do not act on it
Example only: This is [brand] support - install this app so we can fix your issue.
Why it matters
A trusted brand name lowers your guard, letting the 'agent' extract codes, payments, or device control.
Common red flags
- 'Support' that contacts you first
- Numbers from popups or ads
- Requests to install software or share codes
- Pressure and urgency
Safe next steps
- Never install remote-access software for an unsolicited call.
- If you did, disconnect, uninstall, and scan from a clean device.
- Change key passwords from a separate device and contact your bank.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reach real support?
Only via the official app or website you navigate to yourself - never a number from a popup, ad, or message.
