Gift Card Scam
A scam that demands payment in gift cards, which are hard to trace and reverse.
How it appears in scam messages
A gift card scam pressures you to buy store cards — Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Steam — and read out the codes on the back. The reason given is usually a fine, an overdue bill, a tax debt, a boss's urgent request, or a prize fee. Once the codes are shared, the value is drained within minutes and cannot be reversed.
Example only - do not act on it
Example only: To clear your account, buy two $100 gift cards and send the codes here now.
Why it matters
